Laid to Rest

Posted: April 17, 2012 by antoniahill15 in AntoniaH, Marilyn Monroe, A Life in Poems

Everything now seems to be my fault

I get blames for this and for that

I just want to get some sleep.

I lay in bed with many thoughts running through my head

I take my medicine, but its much more than I’m prescribed

Thump, thump, thump goes the beat of my heart

An hour passes by and I close my eyes

Thump… thump…….. thump.

Footnotes  : Marilyn died on that night of August 5, 1962. The

autopsy shows she dies from barbiturate poisoning, a tragic drug

overdose. The many sleeping pills she took, took a toll on her body

and put her to rest forever.

Bad Off

Posted: April 17, 2012 by antoniahill15 in AntoniaH, Marilyn Monroe, A Life in Poems

Marilyn doesn’t quite see it

But she is getting bad off

Her health continues to deteriorate

Due to the increased dependency on drugs and involvement in an unhappy marriage

She shows up on the set late

She cant even get her lines straight

She’s now consulting with a drug therapist

He prescribes her barbiturates and tranquilizers

But still she shows up late

1 hours, 2 hours, sometimes even 3

She’s killing herself but that’s something she still cant see

I see it’s the stress she’s trying to escape

But by time she realizes it, it’s going to be too late

On the Hunt Again

Posted: April 17, 2012 by antoniahill15 in AntoniaH, Marilyn Monroe, A Life in Poems

I’m on the hunt again

Lookin for a man

Someone to love me for who I am

I’m on the hunt again

Lookin for a husband

Someone to spend the rest of my life with

I’m on the hunt again

For that special someone I can call mine

To love and to hold and give me the things that are devine

I’m on the hunt again

And I finally found my man

Someone to understand…  someone to love me for who I am

My Man

Posted: April 17, 2012 by antoniahill15 in AntoniaH, Marilyn Monroe, A Life in Poems

I met a man

Funny, smart, athletic, but jealous

It all seemed so perfect

We soon became married and wanted a family

I wanted children of my own

We tried and tried

But only miscarriages followed

And all I felt was sorrow

Why couldn’t I conceive?

That was a question for me that I couldn’t believe

The marriage soon came to an end

At that moment I was left to be at home

Forever alone…

Seven Year Itch

Posted: April 17, 2012 by antoniahill15 in AntoniaH, Marilyn Monroe, A Life in Poems

I step on the scene

With all eyes on me

I see the faces of my adoring fans

Shouting for me

I walk upon the subway grating

I pause and I pose

Gusts of air come out of the holes

I push down my skirt and I hold the pose

Flick, flick, flick

Pictures taken by all my fans

I love the attention

This is all I ever wanted for my future plans

Footnotes  : Marilyn posed for 2 hours on a subway grating, outside  of  the Trans- Lux

Theater in New York City, for her adoring fans. The picture of the famous skirt blowing scene

From the Seven Year Itch is one of the most famous pictures of  Marilyn still yet today.

Time to print my name in Hollywood

Forever it will be…

Carved into the cement

I feel the sticky texture squish between my toes and hands

I write my name as if I’m playing in the sand

Hours pass by and its finally dry

I’m a part of history

Footnotes  : After her next big  film, “ Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” , she and Jane

Russell signed their names and placed their hands and feet in the wet cement

in front of  the Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard.

Work

Work, work, work

Followed by sleepless nights

I’m falling asleep on set

And it’s just not right

There’s no business like show business

That’s what they all say…

Something’s got to give

There’s got to be a way

There’s got to be something…

Something that helps you sleep…

Footnotes  : After  the  many  years Marilyn began  taking  sleeping  pills, she  started

 to  show  serious  side  effects.
