Civil War

General Robert E. Lee –

not an easy man to break,

but by God, our President did it.

Outside the White House a crowd formed,

a vast sea of faces illuminated by the lights of the White House,

and stretching into the darkness.

And there he was, our President,

Abraham Lincoln.

It was intense, silent.

“…the Civil War has come to an end.”
